Do you have routines? Should you continue?

Routines are praised.
"if you write 1 page a day you'll write a book in a year!".

Forcing us to do certain things for a certain time at a certain cadence will get things done. No doubt. It's also the best way to do these things in a tasteless way.
There is a high risk to lose enthusiasm. And when humans do things without enthusiasm, the result is bad.
If you force you to write 1 page a day. Potentially you'll have a book at the end. Not sure it will be a one someone wants to read.
If you force us to learn Italian 15 minutes a day, you'll learn words. I'm not sure you'll speak Italian one day.
If you force you to meditate 10 mins every day when you wake up. You have a high risk to just sit, think of your coming day and wait for your phone to ring at the end of the 10 mins.
If you force you to learn 5 words of a foreign language a day. Good chance you'll remember them... for a month or two. Indeed, when we learn things without much enthusiasm, usually our brain clean up space quickly.

Conclusion.
If you're a kind of person liking routine (I am a person like that), always keep an eye to your enthusiasm level.
Checking boxes make you feel you achieve things but if you don't believe in, enjoy, is excited by what you do, better rest ;)
