I realized Instagram stories were a bad thing

In the past I was thinking that Instagram stories were cool. They were instant pictures or videos that did not deserve to survive more than a few hours. Moreover they were not adding to the numerous easily accessible photos and videos of you you don't really want to see online years after posting.

But then I realized that I was wrong.
These short living images are made by Instagram for one thing: make you come back everyday to not miss things.
What pushes you to come back everyday is called FOMO, fear of missing out.
FOMO fuels social media success.

To escape it, I deleted Insta from my phone.
I bought a Mac client for Insta called Grids.
So far this is cool.
The experience is nice. Even better than on a phone.
I post a lot less as you can imagine. Indeed, it requires me to download photos I want to upload and then upload them. These barriers give you time to realize that your post is not that important...
Maybe I’ll miss posting on Insta back and install it back. Maybe not.
