What the point of reading once, seeing once? listening once? visiting once?

When you read once a text, how deep does it penetrate in your brain?
Not that deeply…

When you see a film once, do you have time to really understand all its details, know the secondary characters? pay attention to the music?
No.

Do you really know the culture of a city if you visit it once?
No.

But what do we do most of the time?
We read books and articles once.
We watch films once.
We visit places once.
We do tons of things once.
Etc.

There are other things we do more than once without constraint.
Listening to our favorite songs.
Doing our favorite sport.
Having sex with the same person.
Eating outside to our same favorite places.
Shopping at the same shops.

So, questions:
Should we read less content but read books more than once if we like them?
Should we see less places in our lifetime but see them more? longer?
Should we watch films we like several times and slow down our binge watching habits?
And a bigger one:
Are the things we know we'll do once worth being done?
